Graduate Quantity Surveyor - Leeds

Are you a recent Quantity Surveying or Construction graduate looking to launch your career with an established, successful and privately owned main contractor?

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded privately owned main contractor, delivering high-quality construction projects across a diverse range of sectors throughout the UK. Their project portfolio includes offices, residential developments, commercial schemes and healthcare projects.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an ambitious Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate to gain hands-on commercial experience, work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and develop the skills needed to build a successful long-term career within a supportive, people-focused business.

The Role

As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will receive structured support and mentoring while gaining exposure to a wide range of commercial activities across live construction projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with client valuations and applications for payment
  • Supporting monthly cost reporting and forecasting
  • Monitoring project costs and maintaining accurate commercial records
  • Assisting with tendering and estimating activities
  • Supporting subcontract procurement and management
  • Reviewing subcontractor applications and variations
  • Assisting with contract administration
  • Supporting risk and opportunity assessments
  • Assisting with the preparation of final accounts
  • Providing commercial support to Project Managers and Senior Quantity Surveyors
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation
  • Developing an understanding of commercial and contractual requirements

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Graduate Quantity Surveyor who is keen to learn, develop and build a long-term career within the construction industry.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction or a related discipline
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within Quantity Surveying

Previous construction experience, including a placement year or industrial experience, would be advantageous but is not essential.
