Plumber - Water Hygiene / Healthcare Estate - Birmingham
PPM Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Plumber to work on a large, critical healthcare estate, supporting water hygiene compliance, tap replacement works and planned/reactive maintenance activities across the site.
Pay Rate:
£21.05 - £23.39 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday
08:00 - 16:00 (Day Shift)
Role Overview
You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, testing, reactive and breakdown works on water systems, ensuring full compliance with current legislation and site procedures.
Job Duties will include:
- Assessment & planning
- Infection-control compliance
- Safe isolation of water systems
- Tap removal and installation
- TMV checks
- Water hygiene flushing
- Documentation and project handover
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out PPM and reactive plumbing works on domestic hot & cold water systems
- Undertake temperature monitoring, showerhead cleaning and disinfection, TMV servicing and buffer vessel blowdowns
- Ensure all works are completed in line with ACoP L8 and HTM 04-01
- Maintain accurate records, logbooks and CAFM updates (Maximo or similar)
- Work primarily within the Acute Hospital, with additional duties across Mental Health and retained estate sites
- Respond promptly to emergency and compliance-related issues
- Work safely in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and site procedures
- Use radios and PDA devices to receive work instructions
- Work at height and within confined spaces following appropriate training
- Participate in ongoing training and appraisal processes
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven plumbing experience within a commercial or healthcare environment
- Strong knowledge of water hygiene, Legionella control and compliance
- NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in Plumbing / Heating
- Legionella, TMV and disinfection awareness/training
- Ability to work independently from drawings and specifications
- Healthcare/NHS experience (desirable but not essential)
